Hearts of Stone

St. Mary's Church has of course been the location for quite a few newsworthy events both fictional and real. One of the lesser known ones is the marriage of Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood and model Jo Wood on 2 January 1985.

Assisting the poor

"Clothing Clubs" to assist the poor were common in the early 18th century. In 1832, Denham's clothing club raised 15 pounds 5 shillings and 6 pence, Mrs. Edward Fountain of Wrango Hall having donated five shillings.

The homestead in a valley

 The old English meaning of Deneham as recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086

Cheapside

Denham's old market lane. Now it's Cheapside Lane, the only one in Britain. Anyone know when the name was changed ?

The Black Donkey

It was a pub.  It's called Ashbys now.
